Halt is a self-tracking and habit-awareness tool. It is not a medical device, does not provide medical advice, and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition or mental health disorder.
- Do not use Halt as a substitute for professional healthcare, therapy, or medical treatment.
- If you are experiencing distress, self-harm urges, or a mental health crisis, please contact a qualified healthcare professional or emergency services immediately.
- The coping tools, breathing exercises, and strategies in Halt are for general wellness support only.

3. Who Can Use Halt
You may use Halt if you can legally use apps and services in your location and can form a binding agreement where you live. If you are under 18, use Halt only with consent from a parent or guardian.
4. Account and Optional Sign-In
Halt can work without an account (anonymous/guest mode) for core offline features.
Some optional features may require sign-in (for example Google Drive backups or premium purchases). If you sign in, you are responsible for maintaining the security of your device and accounts.
5. License and Acceptable Use
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Halt for your own lawful purposes, subject to these Terms.
You agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive source code except where permitted by applicable law
- Circumvent security features (such as encryption or app lock)
- Use the App for any illegal or harmful purpose
- Interfere with the App's operation or attempt unauthorized access to systems or accounts
6. Your Content and Your Responsibility
Halt lets you create urge/episode logs, photos, notes, body map entries, and related health content ("User Content").
You retain ownership of your User Content. You are responsible for:
- The accuracy of your User Content
- How you choose to export, share, or back up User Content (for example therapist PDF reports)
- Maintaining access to backup passphrases (if used) and keeping them safe
- Understanding that Halt does not validate the accuracy or medical significance of any data you enter
7. Security, Encryption, and Backups
Halt is designed as an offline-first, privacy-first app:
- Your logs, photos, and health data are stored locally in app-private storage.
- AES-256 encryption with PBKDF2 key derivation is used for Drive backups.
- Photo thumbnails are blurred by default for visual privacy.
Backups are optional:
- If you enable Google Drive backup, backups are encrypted before they leave your device.
- If you forget your recovery passphrase, decryption of backups may not be possible.
You are responsible for securing your device and any exported copies. When you export or share content (such as PDF reports), that content exists outside the encrypted environment.
8. Subscriptions, Purchases, and Premium Features (Optional)
Halt may offer premium features via subscriptions or one-time purchases ("Premium Features").
If Premium Features are available:
- Purchases are processed by the platform store (Google Play).
Pricing, trials, renewals, cancellations, and refunds (if any) are handled through the store's standard flows. You should review the store's purchase terms before buying.
9. Third-Party Services
Some features may integrate with third-party services, such as:
- Google services (Google Sign-In, Google Drive)
- Google Play Billing (purchase processing)
Those services have their own terms and privacy policies. Your use of those services is governed by their policies.
10. Updates and Changes to the App
We may update Halt to improve features, security, and performance. Some features may change, be added, or be removed over time.
11. Disclaimers
Halt is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
- We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted or error-free.
- We do not guarantee that exports or backups will always succeed.
- We do not guarantee that the App will meet every user's needs.
- We do not guarantee the effectiveness of any coping tool, breathing exercise, or strategy.
Your device, operating system, and third-party services may affect functionality.
12. Limitation of Responsibility
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not responsible for:
- Loss of data due to device loss, device damage, uninstall/reinstall, OS changes, or third-party service changes
- Loss of access due to forgotten PINs, passwords, or backup passphrases
- Consequences of sharing or exporting content outside the App (for example sharing a therapist PDF)
- Any health outcomes, treatment decisions, or actions taken based on data tracked in the App
Some locations do not allow certain limitations. In those locations, these limitations apply only to the extent permitted by law.
13. Termination
You may stop using Halt at any time.
We may suspend or restrict access to optional online features (such as sign-in or subscription services) if necessary for security, abuse prevention, or operational reasons, while aiming to keep offline functionality available where feasible.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top. Continued use of the App after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
